My aerial map looks blurry or soft

What's happening

The orthomosaic looks soft, smeared, or out of focus. The cause is motion blur in the source photographs — flying too fast for the available light, or too long an exposure. This is baked into the imagery before DroneFlow ever sees it, and an orthomosaic can only ever be as sharp as its inputs.

What to check

1. Open the original photographs from the flight and look at them at full size.
2. If the source frames are soft, that is the answer.
3. Check the shutter speed the flight was shot at against the light conditions.

How to fix it

1. This is not recoverable in processing. No sharpening step can restore detail the sensor never captured.
2. Re-fly: more slowly, in better light, or with a shorter exposure.

Avoiding it next time

Watch shutter speed in overcast conditions and low sun, and slow the flight down when the light is marginal. Flying slower costs battery time; a re-flight costs a day.
